From Syuura: During a field trip to the imperial capital, Tokyo, Kaga Nanao overhears the beautiful melody of a violin and immediately becomes captivated by it. The story could basically be split into two halves. The main story is about Tamai Shiina, who is an energetic middle-school teenage girl. She visits her grandparent's over the summer where she runs into a very strange creature. Shiina has had lots of strange dreams as of late and also when she was younger, and this strange creature is somewhat related to her visions. She names the small cuddly star-shaped creature, Hoshimaru. Little did she know that this cuddly creature is really part of herself. After her vacation, Shiina goes back to her home, living with her father. She runs into other children with similar creatures the following days. However, these children have developed their creatures, and they have complete control over them. They mostly use these creatures for their own destructive pleasure and not for good. There is a group of teenagers that all have these strange creatures, and they plan to basically conquer the world, creating a utopia of whatever they desire. Will they succeed? A collection of 5 short stories: 1. Natsu no Kakera When Miyuki goes off to the countryside to visit her grandfather in the hospital, she accidentally enters Madoka’s room instead. Although she finds him rude at first, they end up seeing each other every day and get closer. But, Miyuki only has a limited amount of time in the countryside. As the summer passes, how will things turn out for them? 2. Yuki no Kakera Aya usually has the library to herself after school - that is, until she witnesses an incident that leads to her discovery of Tono’s feelings for her fellow librarian, Konno. The three end up spending time together, and Aya finds it odd that she can’t stop watching them. As winter goes on, the snow falls and builds up like the fragments of Tono’s emotions - fragments that slowly find their way into Aya’s heart. 3. Koi no Kakera What was initially sheer admiration for the club president, Kondo, spurred Konno into joining the Home Economics Club. Little did she know that these feelings of admiration would eventually grow into something bigger and she decides to knit him a scarf as an expression for her feelings.
