Suddenly, in a split second, the once perfect circle of the moon is shattered, leaving it in a permanent crescent. Shockingly, a yellow tentacled creature claims responsibility for the explosion and warns that it will do the same to the Earth in a year's time. The creature demands a teaching position at a prestigious school, Kunugigaoka Junior High. To keep it in one place, the government obliges, leaving the students of Class 3-E with an overwhelming mission - assassinate the creature that destroyed the moon. Despite the daunting task of saving the world, the class endures additional challenges within their educational system.
