While many Gundam aficionados were left underwhelmed by Gundam F91, Crossbone Gundam is lauded as one of Gundam's best due to its appealing characters, astute narration, and one-of-a-kind "pirate Gundam" designs. One cannot help but ponder how Gundam F91 would have fared had the original plan of a 52-episode TV series been fulfilled instead of compressing it into a two-hour movie.
