During his second year in high school, Tsurumi Asuta was already working as an apprentice cook at his father's diner, Tsurumi-ya, at the young age of 17. Unfortunately, chaos soon erupted in the establishment when a fire broke out. Without hesitation, Asuta charged into the flames to retrieve his father's beloved santoku knife, which held his father's essence. Despite his bravery, Asuta perished in the inferno. When Asuta awoke, he found himself stranded in a strange jungle with no sense of direction or bearings. In the midst of his disorientation, he was suddenly ambushed by a pig-like creature. Fortunately, a girl named Ai Fa rushed to his aid, introducing herself as a member of "The People of Morihen." It was then that Asuta realized he had been transported to a completely different world.
