Emilico is a Living Doll in the Shadows House, alongside many others who serve the mansion's completely black, soot-emitting residents. Each "Shadow" has a corresponding Doll, and Emilico must keep the house immaculate while also representing her master Kate. Despite their roles, Kate treats Emilico as a friend and confidant. The mysterious nature of the partnership between these two groups is further complicated by the overseers on the upper levels of the mansion, their motives unknown.
