Witchblade Takeru, created by Kobayashi Yasuko and illustrated by Sumita Kazasa, was serialized in Akita Shoten's Champion Red magazine in March 2006. The series pays homage to the American Comic book series authored by Marc Silvestri and David Wohl, with Sumita's art style adding an intriguing erotic twist.
